Northern Corridor Integration Projects (NCIPs) Meeting at Weston Hotel held on 23rd-24th September 2024

CDA and myself have participated in a two day meeting on "The Commodities Exchange Cluster" under Northern Corridor Integration Projects(NCIPs).

Northern Corridor is a multimedia trade route linking the landlocked Countries of the Great lakes Region with the Kenyan Maritine seaport of Mombasa.

The Northern Corridor Integration Projects (NCIPs) is an initiative,  a collaborative regional effort by Northern Corridor partner states, including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and South Sudan.

The initiative aims at enhancing infrastructure and boosting economic development within the region with a focus on improving transportation, energy, and ICT.

Key projects under the NCIPs include; the development of railways, roads, oil pipelines, and the modernization of ports.

Uganda's participation at the meeting was led by Amb. Kabonero Richard , the National Coordinator of NCIPs and Mr. Ndorere Cleopas, Commissioner, External Trade/as the technical Official from Ministry of trade.

The purpose of the meeting was to review and update the cluster matrix of the decisions made during the 14th NCIPs Heads of States Summit.

The meeting deliberated on levels of implementation of the directive of the 14th NCIPs Summit on Commodities Exchange by Partner States , Challenges experienced and recommendations for consideration at the upcoming 15th NCIPs Summit.

The outcomes of the meeting were;

-An updated cluster matrix by both the technical team and Principal/ Permanent Secretaries.
-Presentation, adoption and signing of the technical report and the Principal/ Permanent Secretaries' report of the session.
