Uganda at 62 Celebrations in Kenya

The Uganda High Commission in Nairobi in collaboration with the Ugandan Diaspora leadership and membership in Kenya organized the 62nd Independence day celebrations at the Chancery on 5th October 2024.

The Chief Guest at the celebration was the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya who was represented by the Director Africa Affairs, Amb. Dennis Mburu.

The event was also graced by the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Eritrea to Kenya, Amb. Beyene Russom and Heads of Missions from all the EAC Partner States accredited to Kenya. Others were Heads of Missions of  Ghana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique who are also accredited to Uganda. There were also diplomats from Botswana, South Africa and Turkey, among others.

The day’s events kicked off with a Free Medical Camp by Smart Medical Hub. The Medical Camp, which operated alongside an exhibition of products and services offered by Ugandans on the Kenyan Market. The rxhibiters included Uganda Airlines, Upesi (Money transfer), East African Breweries, Kope Tours and Adventures, Sumz Products, Nash Fresh, Euphrasia Women Centre, Green Cycle Shop, and Cloud 360.

The Mission also engaged a Rolex maker who attracted heavy traffic, underscoring  the vitality of gastro-diplomacy. All Rolex products sold out even before the official event commenced.
