The first Uganda- Kenya Oil and Gas Opportunities Conference 2024

Today, 11th September , CDA attended the first Uganda- Kenya Oil and Gas Opportunities Conference 2024, at Serena Hotel, Nairobi.
The conference which was convened by Branding Energy , was  attended by  officials of Albertine and Oil Services, Uganda National Oil Company, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, Kenya Chamber of Commerce, Kenya Pipeline Company,  Kenya investors in Uganda Oil Sector, Women entrepreneurs, students of Petroleum studies, Uganda High Commission  and other related private stakeholders.

Its purpose was for Uganda to show case the developments in her oil sector and attract investors from  East Africa to the sector.  

The conference began with an address by the CEO, Albertine and Oil Services, Ms Benita Bageire who outlined the oil projects in the Albertine.  
CDA gave a key note address in which he highlighted the excellent bilateral relations between Uganda and Kenya exemplified in the May 2024 JMC meetings in Kampala , State visit to Kenya as well as the increased bilateral trade and tourism volumes.
He further highlighted the role of the Uganda  High Commission in  Kenya in boosting these relations.

Assistant Commissioner from Ministry of Energy,  Uganda, Mr Frank Mugisha and UNOC Legal Officer, Ms Hawa Bukenya made presentations on developments in Uganda's oil sector and opportunities for investment as well as UNOC operations.

Panel discussions  also took place show casing existing Kenyan investors in Uganda's Oil  sector and Women in  Energy and other enterprises.

Assurances were sought and given about Uganda's environmental safeguards, opportunities for jobs for other East African graduates of petroleum studies, and skill transfer to the locals by  investor foreign oil  companies.

It is to be noted that many participants were not able to attend the conference due to the shut down of JKIA airport.

The next conference is scheduled for March 2025 in Tanzania.
