    UNHCR Somalia Coordination Meeting on the Somalia

    On 7th November, the UNHCR Somalia office held a Coordination Meeting on the Somalia Situation  at TradeMark Suits, Enaki Town, Nairobi.

    Participants included UNHCR , IGAD, donors,  and Commissioners of Refugees from regional countries that host Somali refugees.

    The objectives of the meeting were to review previous solutions to the Somali Refugee problem, Share experiences and identify new approaches.

    Uganda's Minister for Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Hon Hilary Onek was Chief Guest at the event.

    Meetings were held on 4th - 5th 2024 at Sarova Panafric Hotel, Nairobi. 
    The meeting was chaired by the chairman ICGLR - PSF and President of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Eric Rutto.

    Uganda at 62 Celebrations in Kenya

    The Uganda High Commission in Nairobi in collaboration with the Ugandan Diaspora leadership and membership in Kenya organized the 62nd Independence day celebrations at the Chancery on 5th October 2024.

    The Chief Guest at the celebration was the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya who was represented by the Director Africa Affairs, Amb. Dennis Mburu.

    The CDA and Mission staff have this afternoon, 7th October,  2024 met with a team of Officers from Ministries of Trade, Finance, ICT, Makerere University and PSFU who are on a Benchmarking visit to Kenya for Start-up Policy.

    The teams exchanged ideas on how to they can leverage on Kenya's success story in the Innovation and ICT sector to develop a comprehensive Start-up Policy for Uganda.

    After the development of the policy, the Task Force on Start-up expects the Mission(s) to champion its implementation through Diaspora involvement among other sectors.
